On 27th February 2007 it became an offence to use a mobile telephone whilst driving. The offence carries 3 penalty points and a £60.00 fine. If you are suspected of committing this offence the police will offer you a fixed penalty notice, (unless you are at risk of disqualification). However it is your right to take the matter to Court if you deny the offence or if you feel the circumstances merit it.
